Installation issues

AME Beta won’t open

  • Run as administrator
  • Check Windows Security exclusions
  • Temporarily disable antivirus if needed

Upgrade option not available

  • Confirm you’re on AtlasOS 0.4.1 or newer (Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2)
  • Confirm you’re using the latest AME Beta version
  • Check that you’re using the correct Playbook file

Installation fails

  • Check that you have enough disk space
  • Confirm Windows is activated

”This Windows build is not supported”

You likely haven’t followed the installation guide to reinstall Windows. Follow the Installation Guide to get a supported Windows version.

”Cannot disable Defender” or “Cannot open Windows Defender settings”

You likely haven’t followed the installation documentation to reinstall Windows. Atlas requires a full Windows reinstall. Don’t use “Reset this PC”. Follow the Installation Guide.

”Reticulating Splines” or “Action taking a long time”

These messages appear when there is no status change for 5–15 minutes. Usually this is due to a slow connection or computer. If stuck for a long time:

  1. Confirm you’re on a fresh, fully updated Windows install (follow the Installation Guide)
  2. Turn off any overclocks
  3. Use the latest Atlas Playbook
  4. Try restarting and re-applying the Playbook
  5. Click Show logs, open Output.txt, and check what’s stuck. You can kill the responsible process in Task Manager, but re-applying is preferred

If unresolved, ask for help on Discord or GitHub Discussions, and include your Output.txt log.
